1. What is the Scottish Theatre Forum The forum was launched in Feb 2006 and is an online theatre community designed to be a meeting place where anyone interested in amateur theatre or theatre in general can discuss any issues that may affect them, meet new friends with a shared interest, find new opportunities and ways to be involved with Amateur theatre and to have a one stop shop of information with regards to rescourses available to assist them as individuals and also to benefit their home companies. The forum prides itself on offering full support to anyone and everyone involved in theatre in Scotland and beyond and takes pride in the achievements of it's members. 2. How does the Forum operate? The Forum is run by those who are willing to give up a little time to write articles or conduct interviews, Moderators for the Forum itself are chosen and appointed by the Editor to watch over the boards and ensure users are posting respectfully and manners are being observed. They are also tasked with ensuring any pottentially litigeous statements that may be posted are removed and that forum users are safe to enjoy a welcoming and safe environment with which to discuss shared issues and to enjoy the company of other likeminded individuals over a vast range of subjects. 3. How much does membership of the forum cost? Absoloutely nothing, membership of the forum is completely free of charge, thanks to our site sponsor, Rosewired Web Hosting, we have plenty of webspace and technical support and are able to increase our membership while allowing all our members and visitors to be online and actively networking. The site was set up as a rescource to be used by the entire amateur community and our aim is to allow complete access to all those in any way interested or involved in theatre throughout Scotland and beyond. 4. Why publish the forum when we already have support from NODA Scotland? The forum is not designed to compete with amateur theatre's governing bodies in any way, we are all huge supporters of NODA and SCDA and appreciate the tireless work they carry out in their support of their member companies and individuals. STF are not a governing body of any kind, we are simply a community based support site who play a background role in offering individuals involved with amateur theatre the opportunity to come together and support each other. Many of our membership are individual members of these bodies themselves and the forum is proud to support them in any way it can. NODA in particular offer a wide range of services which all offer excellent value to companies and which the forum has availed itself of at times. The Founder of the forum felt that the NODA discussion boards were somewhat restrictive in that they were only open to registered members of that organisation and that a more open discussion board would be welcomed by many people, hence the birth of the STF. Scottish Theatre Forum is a proud supporter of NODA Scotland, SCDA and all umberella organisations in the country that support amateur entertainers and performers. 5. What has the forum got to offer me? The Scottish Theatre forum was founded to offer something for everyone, if you are new to amateur theatre and need help and advice on what is out there then the community is here to help. Once registered you can post any question you like and there will always be someone who can answer it and try to help you. If you are already involved in the stage trade then we offer the opportunity to talk with fellow stage addicts from across Scotland and further afield, communicating with each other and offering help and support where needed. As time goes by the site rescources will deepen to offer an Aladdins cave of information regarding every different aspect and department. We are not only for Actors, Singers and Dancers, we encourage membership and input from Writers, Directors, Stage Technichians, Lighting designers, Costume designers, Prompts, Sound Designers & Operators, Set designers, Choreographers...........You name it!
