1. What is STF Productions?

STF Productions is the production company arm of the Scottish Theatre Forum. It was formed in October 2006 by Mark Grieve to enable the production of the musical 'We Will Rock You' and was designed to be a one off venture to stage the show and raise funds for the 'Sick Kids Friends', a charity supporting the work of The Royal Hospital for Sick children in Edinburgh. It was quickly obvious to the producer and the management team that the rescources and talent required to stage this production would be difficult to achieve for an established Musical Theatre Company and it soon became apparent that this would need to be tackled as an 'extra cirricular' project to achieve the high standards required.

2. How does the company work?

The company was formed in order to produce the above show and the management team closed the books for this production with the announcement of a grand total raised for the chosen charity. STF Productions is run by a management team appointed by The producer and Head of Company. The management team are split into different departments and heads of department report to the producer who brings together both the production team and the management team to ensure that everyone is working together for one common goal.

3. Was the production a success?

The STF team were delighted at the success achieved with 'We Will Rock You' and more importantly over the moon at what was achieved in a very short period of time in terms of mounting the production and raising funds and awareness for our chosen charity. The Sick Kids Friends benefited to the tune of £10,500.00 from STF productions with further donations also being recieved from other local businesses directly to the Sick kids. As with any innaugural venture there were challenges and difficulties to be faced along the road but the skill and dedication of all involved ensured that the undertaking was a huge success. As always there were many lessons learned by all involved however we are all delighted with how things transpired.

4. So what now for STF productions? Is it all over?

At this time, and after the outcome of our plans for Spring 2009 ended in dissapointment we are not considering another production in the forseeable future. We have faced dissapointments of late with the cancellation of our planned spring 2009 production which was due to misinformation from outside sources and lack of attention on our part which the Producer accepts full responsibility for. Mistakes were made and lessons must be learned from this dissapointment. STF Productions are a charitable venture with the aim of tacking a broad canvas of productions and particularly new or challenging works that would prove problematic for a conventional company. We aim to bring together Scottish Talent in all aspects of theatrical staging and allow them to express themselves and learn from shared experiences. Our rehearsal periods are always short and intensively structured to allow maximum focus on the work being undertaken which we feel brings out the best in people. The Producer will in time consider if it is appropriate for the company to perform again but for now the decision has been taken to concentrate on the forum itself and to build things up on that front.
